Swine Wastewater Treatment in Constructed Wetland Systems: Hydraulic and Kinetic Modeling

نویسندگان

چکیده

The use of constructed wetland systems (CWS) is presented as an alternative for the treatment effluents since these have reduced implementation costs and relative ease operation. present research was undertaken to evaluate study hydrodynamic fitting first-order mathematical kinetic models removal pollutants in CWS. Three CWS were built, using expanded clay filter support: one cultivated with Polygonum punctatum (CWSw), another Chrysopogon zizanioides (CWSV), a control unit (CWSc). actual retention time 3.12 days CWSc, whereas, CWSw CWSv, we observed values 4.14 4.11 days, respectively. dispersion high all chemical oxygen demand (COD) across length used fit that describe decay organic matter over showed better experimental data plug-flow residual concentration, continuous stirred tank reactor, Shepherd’s models.

Swine Lagoon Wastewater Treatment in Marsh- Pond/Floating Wetland-Marsh Constructed Wetland

Constructed wetlands have been used effectively to reduce the mass loads of organic and nutrient components from swine anaerobic lagoons. Continuous marsh wetlands with gentle slope and intermittent flows seem to be the best for promoting oxidation and minimizing ammonia volatilization. However, the pond section of the marsh-pond-marsh section could potentially be effectively aerated by mechani...

Myriophyllum aquaticum Constructed Wetland Effectively Removes Nitrogen in Swine Wastewater

Removal of nitrogen (N) is a critical aspect in the functioning of constructed wetlands (CWs), and the N treatment in CWs depends largely on the presence and activity of macrophytes and microorganisms. However, the effects of plants on microorganisms responsible for N removal are poorly understood. In this study, a three-stage surface flow CW was constructed in a pilot-scale within monospecies ...

Wastewater Treatment with Vertical Flow Constructed Wetland

Water is one of the most important elements involved in the creation and development of healthy life. Haphazard disposal of untreated wastewater from households as well as institutions and industry is causing severe deterioration of water bodies in many urban areas in the developing world. There are several methods to treat the municipal wastewater for intended use. One of the methods of the tr...

Integrated constructed wetland systems: design, operation, and performance of low-cost decentralized wastewater treatment systems.

Several different types of constructed wetland systems are being used as decentralized treatment systems including surface-flow, subsurface-flow, vertical-flow, and hybrid systems. Archetypical wetland systems have design strengths and weaknesses, and therefore it should be possible to design combined (integrated) systems to optimize a number of important treatment processes. This study provide...

Wastewater Treatment Using Horizontal Subsurface Flow Constructed Wetland

The last few decades witnessed sharp focus on environment pollution and its impact on life in nature. Wetlands can be used for biological treatment of wastewater. Problem statement: Scarcity of water is considered as a global problem and Iran is one the countries which is facing water shortage problem. Pollution of water bodies restrict the availability of water for various uses. Treatment of w...
